The only way to gain freedom is to never give up. "Martin Luther King Jr." is a book
about the man who made a monumental difference in defeating segregation in America. As a result of Martin's persistence and passion towards making whites and blacks equal, the U.S. has looked up to him since the 1950s. "Martin Luther King Jr." by Michael V. Uschan was an outstanding book because it portrayed all of the difficulties of segregation in the mid-1900s and showed what a single man can do to change the world.
King was born on January 15, 1929 and grew up in a wealthy and secure home in Atlanta, Georgia with his parents and grandparents. He was always the smartest kid in his class, which at the time, defied the rule that whites are smarter than blacks; Martin knew he needed to make a difference. Through years of his persistence and passion to eradicate racism, Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream Speech" was created about his dream to eradicate racism. It shocked the whole nation in 1963 and displayed how severe of an issue segregation is. He was shot and killed on April 4, 1968 by James Earl Ray but after King's unforgettable speech and acts to destroy racism, the world has always looked up to this inspiring man.
"Martin Luther King Jr." was a descriptive book and included all of the important details about his life. This book failed to disappoint and even included pictures of several events such as
The Montgomery Bus Boycott on page thirty-two. King was such an inspirational man and the book portrayed how much of a non-violent man he was. It quotes him on page sixty-nine saying in a speech, "'Violence is impractical because it is a descending spiral ending in destruction for all.'" This book shows all of the struggles and triumphs of this man's life and inspires anyone who reads it.
I highly recommend this book and rate it four out of five stars. Although it was one of the best non-fiction books I've read, at times I felt bored and didn't want to continue reading it. "Martin Luther King Jr." by Michael V. Uschan was an inspiring book and showed all of the struggles African-Americans faced with racism. It is incredible what one person can do if you set your mind to it and never give up.
