From depression so major she had trouble functioning to uncontrollable fear in mania, Polly Norman reveals her struggle with manic depressive disorder and how it comes out in her collection of abstract art. Her experience as a dancer and dance photographer also influence the work. Subconsciously, the work took on a "dancey" look.
Norman is the inventor of an unusual technique of her own invention. To make her abstract pieces, she photographs objects placed behind glass block in black and white. Select works have photograms added and/or are painted.
Her pain and passion are revealed in visual art and writing.
